I don't know about anyone else, but I'm really bothered by dead pixels
on LCD screens and would be willing to pay a reasonable extra fee to
be able to exchange an Apple computer in case I got one with a dead
pixel. I'd also feel more secure if I could get insurance against
accidental damage, like if I dropped the computer on a hard surface
and it stopped working.

Can't you get your house contents insurance to cover that?

Maybe if enough people sign it, Apple will listen. Besides, if they
offered these options, they'd probably turn a net profit from them.

A UK company offered a pixel check on monitors they sold. It cost ~£20
IIRC. The problem with this is the nagging feeling that if you don't pay
up you might get a monitor that had failed the pixel test.

Well yes, one does expect them to take the monitors that failed and sell
them, if they reached normal specs.

So you can see what could happen - Apple will sell you a guaranteed
pixel perfect MBP for a premium, others paying the basic price will
likely get a few dead pixels, almost guaranteed to, in fact.

If I'm paying well over a thousand quid for a MBP I really expect a
perfect screen, and no extra markup.
