Apple released Logic Studio(Includes Logic Pro 8) today and it is much
lower priced then Logic was before. The full version is only $499 and the
upgrade from logic Pro is $199.

And it GETS RID of the irritating XSKey hardware key that wasted a perfectly
fine USB port. Yeh!!!!

5 things I can't stand about Logic that make me want to go elsewhere:

1. Apple's upgrade of this Emagic program has made Logic completely
unreliable. New menus conflict with old ones, automation is
inconsistent, and quite often songs need to be closed and re-opened to
restore them to functional behavior. Apple is working on the problems,
but the recent Intel upgrade means more bug chasing.

2. Markers cannot export as text. Time signature changes are
cumbersome. Tempo rebuilds and changes create
disasters in automation. New notation features have new problems.

3. Cannot bus outputs to inputs internally. Must use external hardware
loop-throughs to record multiple stems or
tracks in one pass. Even if one uses Digidesign hardware, there are
bus and instrument limitations within Logic that
hamper Digi's HTDM engines.

4. Everything requires an object and an environment. Every song has a
unique setup that is difficult to copy to
another. Mixing templates, songwriting templates, and even
transplanting some screensets can have disastrous
results.

5. Multi-channel software instruments like Stylus and Kontakt are a
pain to build in a Logic environment. Again, I
have made some workarounds, but I need to change every template of
each song I write to implement them. No
multi-instrument channel strips.
