My boys are in a jazz trio that's been working around town (when high school
schedules allow) and I'm in the market for one of these devices to record
them on a club date. I've put off buying one because I wasn't sure how much
longer the mini-disc was going to be around. I'd like to record them in my
studio but they have red button-itis at this point in time;)

What's "red button-itis"? I didn't understand the expression (I get the
-itis, not the 'red button')

They don't play as naturally when the record button (generally a red button)
goes down.

Hmmm, I have not seen or heard that use of the term "red button" before. A
new one to me. Looking online I do not see any other examples of people
using it as you did, but regardless, you have explained your use and I
appreciate it. Apparently my earlier guess as to what you meant was
incorrect.

I am curious where you have seen others use the term "red button" like that
before - doing a quick Google search I did not find any other examples, but
I only looked for a few seconds.
