What inch of the planet is uncovered by GPS?

I have only played with a friend's GPS a few times, maybe an hour in
total. In that hour I found a large numebr of such inches, in the
vicinity of Blackfriar's bridge, in London.

GPS satellites cover the entire planet.

If the particular receiver you were using didn't work is another matter. But how could satellites some how "bock out" certain areas of the earth?
