It's $3785 ($3057 after refund from the government) per detached
house. That usually ends up at $15/month, making it cheaper than
Verizon.

Wait... if you spend only $15/month it would take you 20 years to pay off
the nearly $4k. And even if the government refunds some of the money you
end up still paying in taxes... or someone does. If it is taking 20 years
to pay back the initial investment you need to add interest... so likely
make it closer to 30 years. Something is not adding up here.

Well, most detached houses are part of a local community, and is
paying a monthly cost to that community for waste management, snow
moving, maintenance of common grounds and thins like that. That
community takes a bank loan for the entire area and adds the cost to
the monthly bill. It will vary a lot on how much digging is required
of course, but on my last community, that ended up at 100 SEK/month
($14) and my current one is at 140 SEK/month ($20).

Even if you add in the difference, so you pay $30/month (and end up at
$50/month) you still get a better service.

And, again, this is for detached houses only. If you're in an
apartment, it's way cheaper.
