I've recently been hearing the claims that the PCs Apple now makes
are superior in quality to computers made by other vendors. Can anyone
actually prove this? What company makes Apple's components and what
grade of quality are they. Are they the same companies that make parts
for other PC makers? I've heard the claims now can someone really back
them up?

To my knowledge there are only a limited number of manufacturers who
make the majority of components that go into a PC.
That's the conclusion I came to also.
Therefore the parts
that go into Apple systems as very similar to those that go into other
systems. Often, and I would be surprised if this doesn't apply to
Apple, a large customer will request customizations to the basic
product. Do these customization lead to a better quality product?
Can't say without knowing what they are.
To my knowledge the only components in Apple computers that are
custom
are motherboards. The HDs, memory, and CPUs are all the same.
That doesn't mean the HDs etc meet the same specs that Dell et al settle
for in the cut throat PC market. Any manufacturer can spec what they
like, have you never heard of mil specs? The core component will be the
same as you can buy in any store but it will have been tested to tighter
tolerances.
Yea this has to be Mitch under another name. Only he would be this
stupid and make those stupid statements. When you say the same shit over and
over again, it doesn't do any good to change your name. But I won't plonk
you just yet, I'll just ask you to prove what you claim.
I've looked at the parts that went into various Macs and they are
off-the-shelf HDs not made to any different specification. Same model
numbers and everything.
Of course there's the case that's custom too.
Don't overlook the overall design which may also be targetted towards
reliability rather than outright performance. Running components a few
degrees cooler extends their life dramatically.
I know and many of the computer cases for PCs are made with cooling as
the main design point. They even put it above style.
