Where is the Microsoft GPS?
towards the end of the new iPhone "guided tour", Apple talks about the
iPhone with Google Maps, it ends pretty quickly, but worth looking over.

a curious question... who really owns the gps satellites? companies like
garmin don't seem to charge a fee for use, so is it some kind of
government service like NOAA or just what?
Yes. GPS is a defense department project. (And the US military still
retains the capability to introduce inaccuracy into the civilian signal
on a selective basis. Which is one big reason China and Europe are
looking into building their own systems.)
