Intro Comment: I consider Paris Hilton to be a perfect example of
the de-evolution of the US culture. She is 100% ignorable, with
zero redeeming qualities. I couldn't care less about the dimwit
tramp. Why others do is beyond my comprehension. Finding out
whether people care about her or not is equivalent to an IQ test:
Retards care, intelligentsia yawn. You get the idea.

I am astounded at how far and how quickly this country is degenerating. I was
channel surfing the tube the other night and came upon a game show that is
based on the premise "Are you smarter than a 5th grader?" (and indeed, that's
the show's title). The idea is that adults get asked 5th Grade (and lower)
questions to win up to a million bucks. They had two contestants: One was a
30-something CFO of a corporation with a degree and 3.5 GPA in college. The
other was a school teacher. It was embarrassing to watch. The questions asked
were all very simple - what we used to call "general knowledge" questions,
and both contestants had to struggle with them. Want some examples? "What is
the country that borders Spain on the West?" "A chicken is a cold-blooded
animal. T or F?" "What canal, finished in 1825, linked the Hudson River in NY
with Lake Erie?" Tough stuff, eh?

Now, I might be smarter than your average bear, but I'm far from the sharpest
knife in the drawer, yet, I instantly knew the answer to every question
asked. Almost anyone over the age of 12 should. Yet both of these boobs
bombed out fairly early-on in the game. Not only would I have walked away
with the million bucks, but would have done so easily, I'm sure.

What it shows is that we are no longer educating our populace (and haven't
been for long time) and a populace as ignorant as the voting adults that are
used as contestants on this show, cannot support a democracy for long.

Somebody's agenda, perhaps?

Folks, the Mac really is astonishing.

It's used by top professional programmers to write software. Even
Microsoft use them. What for? Writing games for the Xbox. Guess
what Bungie use to write Halo kids! Xerox user Macs to write
nearly all their product software. Considering that Xerox
originated the GUI desktop metaphor that is quite a compliment.

Meanwhile, as John pointed out, total pinhead techno-illiterates
like Bush and Limbaugh are able to use them for their own
professional work.

This means the Mac has all the power under the hood to do
incredibly complicated work and yet it is so simple to use that
someone with the intelligence of a 2 year old can thrive on it.

Can Windows do that?

NOT.

Instead, writing code in Windows is an exercise in suffering.
Meanwhile Windows newbies typically swear at their computers and
are constantly pestering experienced Windows users for help. I
know. I teach Windows classes.
