would expect an upgrade of their products to sell very, very well.

size and influence in the computer market. The mistake you just made, in
other words, is not that uncommon. The fact is, however, that MS has a much,
much larger market share and one would expect, all else being equal, that an
MS OS update would sell better - much better - than any OS Apple could puts
out.
I have a good way you can find out: ask them... and as you do so stop using
such derogatory and inflammatory language. If you do so people might
actually take you seriously.
I do know that Vista has not been shown much respect by the reviewers, has
had a lot of older software not work well with it, has been bundled by OEMs
with products it does not work with (or does not work well with), has
features many find annoying, has high hardware requirements, etc. There is
certainly a lot to *not* like about Vista, though I am not sure I would call
it a "failure" based on those things.
If your criteria for Vista is merely to sell more units than a company with aSuch as?
relatively tiny market share then your expectations and criteria are selling
MS short. I, personally, would hope for more from MS.
I would hope that they would strive to make their products be as good as
they reasonably can be... not just sell based on their market position, as I
describe above.
I have no interest in discussing the success or failure of wine.
OK fair enough. How about Vista? Do you think that is a success or a
failure... or a bit of both? What are *your* criteria... and why?
I think it is selling exactly as it should be expected to. Is that a
success? Again that depends on what metric one is using.
Ok, at least in retrospect you are not disappointed - nor really
particularly pleased - with the sales figures on Vista. No argument here.
I am indifferent. The success or failure of Vista isn't important to me.
Odd how you get so worked up over those who do not see it as succeeding that
you lower yourself to name calling.
What is important is does it run the software I need it to run. It does.
That's it.
I am happy it works for you. At least you do not try to pretend your
claimed experience with it is necessarily a common one.
Good to see you raise the level of commentary in this post. I appreciate
it.
You sure as hell weren't doing it so I had to.
I had no need to raise myself to the level I was already at... you, on the
other hand, have clearly changed your style to try to rise to my level. We
can debate this if we like, but, frankly, I am just happy you are playing
fewer of the silly games you were earlier in this thread.
