The iPod hasn't been updated for a LONG time uses the sound chip:
Wolfson Microelectronics WM8758

The Zune which is less than a year old:
Wolfson Microelectronics WM8978G

The Zune will behind again once the widescreen iPod is released in
September. It's called leapfrog and the Zune has a tiny difference in
quality at the moment.


Zune CRUSHES the iPod in sound quality. Just like every other 2 dollar MP3
player. Everything Apple makes is *** in shiny plastic. Anyone who buys
Apple products is so incredibly stupid I feel sorry for them.

That's a lot of people to feel sorry for. :)
