No delete key for deleting files like PC's have. no Backspace key that
i can find. Windows Has it. Annoying.
You're using a laptop then. "Backspace" delete is on both and
from-the-right delete is also on all desktops. I'm sure there's a way
to
get that functionality on your laptop too. I just never needed it
enough
to hunt it down.

Fn-Delete gives you "from the right delete" on laptops.

Not on this one (new MBP)... it's Cmd-Del... Fn-Del doesn't seem to do
anything.
Fn-Delete works on my 15" MacBook Pro Core 2 Duo
(OS X 10.4.9). It's Cmd-Del that doesn't do
anything.

When I look under the File menu on my version of Tiger (10.4.9) running on
my
15" MBP Core 2 Duo it shows Cmd (aka Open Apple Key) -Del moves a file to
the
trash. DId you change anything about your keyboard layout (I didn't)?

AH, I got it.

Yes, mine looks like yours. I think the confusion
was is that I was thinking of the delete function
where instead of deleting the character previous
(in text) one wants to delete the current
character, such as the delete key does in Windows.
That is what Fn-Delete does. For moving a
file to the trash, then yes, Pretzel-Delete does
it. It brings up the same type of confirmation
box that the Windows DEL key would bring up.

I dunno... but it didn't help that when Dave was talking about character
deletion (one of the issues the OP brought up) I was still focusing on file
deletion when I replied to him. I know I confused Dave with my confusion... hope
I didn't confuse you, too;) My apologies.
