USB audio for a Mac mini

So, I have a Intel Mac mini, and I want audio out in a specific way.
The constellation is as follows:
The Mac mini is connected to my LCD TV through a DVI->HDMI cable. As
we all know, this won't carry sound since DVI is video-only. So I have
optical connected to my Pioneer VSX-AX4ASi-S amplifier. The reason why
the Mac mini isn't connected to the amplifier is because when I switch
inputs, the Mac mini "loses" its connection and thinks it has no
monitor connected. Bummer.
So, my need is that when I drive my projector with my Mac mini, the
sound should be output by my amplifier, but when I view TYV with my
Mac on my TV, the sound should be sent to the TV.
One way to solve this is to set ROOM 2 audio OUT on the amplifier to
audio IN on the TV, but that would require the amplifier to be turned
on for audio to be sent to the TV, no good.
So, basicall, I want to split up the audio between the Mac mini and
the amplifier to one digital and one analog.
Mac Mini
`- "splitter"
`- Toslinkt o amplifier
`- stereo jack to TV
And sound should be outputted to both at the same time.
This is one device:

That has both outputs, but I don't know if it outputs to both at the
same time. I once owned a Revolution 7.1 card (from the same company),
and when installed, it showed several new outputs in system
preferences, but I don't remember if either could be set to output
simultaneously.
Anyone have any of these products and could try it out for me? On a
tower Mac, that has both a stereo jack and a toslink jack, the Mac
will output to both, but on the Mac mini, it's the same jack, so the
same rules may not apply.
