I'm surprised that nobody here has mentioned CIO.com's article
(written by Lisa Nadile), "Hi, I'm a Mac, and I'm Your Enterprise
Computer" (http://www.cio.com/article/106350).
You shouldn't be surprised. Maccies here didn't mention the article,
or even respond to your post, because of how it shatters their myths.
"For Publicis Group, the Macs have higher total cost of ownership.
This is because of the particular hardware configurations and the
company's corporate culture, which calls for more intense support on
the Mac side. "
Higher cost of ownership for the Mac.
""The Macs require a greater density of field associates. Where we
have 1-to-150 PC techs to users, we're somewhere down to 1-to-100 for
Macs. I think that's due partly to the technology and partly due to
the users. The creatives are more demanding and you have to be more
responding, because those are the people that clearly create our
revenue," says Anschuetz. "
More support people needed for the Mac.
Not a bad trade off, eh? Still, it is one of the first times I have seen
anyone talk about Macs costing more to support.
