What support do you get if you don't opt for Server Software support, which starts at $5,995 (a year?)
I don't think the author has much experience using Intel-based servers. The statement below shows that he/she has no knowledge of the remote support tools that have been built into Intel servers for years, allowing full out-of-band remote management, including physically powering off the box. (Compaq/HP "Insight Manager" and RLO Board, IBM RSA card, Dell DRAC card). We supported 2000 remote Intel servers throughout North and South America with about 8-10 people. Plus companies like HP, Dell and IBM provide their customers with product roadmaps and advance plans. Apple's secrecy just won't fly with large companies. I'd love to have one (with an Xserve RAID) here at home, though.
