I recently talked about how, in XP, there is a common feature that allows the
screen orientation to change... this can be cool in some settings but can
also be problematic being that this setting effects not just the account it
is set in but also the login screen and, though I had no tested it at the
time, other users. Screen settings effect not just the account they are set
in but the whole computer.

Another complaint I heard was that what I described was not a part of the XP
experience because it was dependant on hardware and drivers. Well, *of
course* it is dependant on drivers and correct hardware - that has not been
in question. Being that it is a feature on many machines even from such big
names as Dell, I would say that it is clearly a common part of the experience
of using a machine with XP (though many people never find or use the
feature!). A driver to alter orientation is even provided by MS itself in
some versions of Windows!
No, you were recently incorrect about that being a feature of XP.
I returned the parts of my original post that are relevant to your comment,
Sandman... the reasons you snipped it are clear... you are trolling. Also
note that even from before Steve started his trolling on the issue I was had
already clarified / corrected the comments - and Steve quoted them in his
initial BS posts where he pretended otherwise:
Mayor stated:
Its a feature of the video card's driver. That's why it doesn't
affect all machines the same. All Windows machines don't use
the same video card.
I replied with:
No argument here - that is why different XP machines are different
in this area.
Steve *quoted* me but showed he did not understand what he read... and now
you are jumping in to support Steve in his trolling. Gee, Sandman, who
would have guessed you would jump into a debate and focus on any error
attributed to me but completely ignore the outright lies and clear inability
of Steve Carroll to understand what he reads? LOL!
Sure, in my initial post it was not made clear that the feature was tied, at
least on most versions of XP, to a third party driver. Nor did I
acknowledge that it was not consistent on all machines... but that has been
cleared up *long* ago... yet you and Carroll are obsessing over it because
it is the one area where you think there was a flaw in my comments.
The main point, of course, about how Windows allows users to "mess with" the
login screen while OS X does not went right over your head and his. Steve
even went into his own little la-la land where he talked about hiding
features and made up stories about me not knowing shortcut keys... for some
reason you never commented on those little gems of his. Gee, Sandman... it
is almost as if you are biased enough against me to insist I am the "most
hated troll" in CSMA and to have sections of your website devoted to lying
about me. Oh, wait... you have both of those. LOL!

? Teaching is a "real job"
? The path "~/users/username/library/widget" is not common on any OS
? The term "all widgets" does not specify a specific subgroup of widgets
.
