LOL! People who use it have told you its not a big deal but you
keep
on pretending that you know better even though you've never used
it.
Do you disagree that it should have that warning?
Most people already realize that rebooting loses any unsaved data.
It doesn't... not without warning. Try it... you are given a chance
to
save
your data.
Oh no it doesn't. Try this from a terminal window:
sudo reboot
Let me know if it prompted you to save date.
Oh, you are being silly - that is not a standard reboot! Seriously...
try
rebooting from either OS X or Windows in their normal ways... it will
give
you a chance to save your data.
Why is it not a standard reboot?
The command line is simply not the standard way of working with the OS.
It's not? Have you mentioned this to all the Linux, Solaris, etc.
administrators out there?
What OS did you think I meant when I wrote "the OS"?
OSes in general. But I'm sure there are a few OS X users who use the command line.
Who reboots their computer like that as a matter of practice?
Those who use the command line. I seem to recall that one of the benefits of
OS X was its UNIX underpinnings. Now it looks as if you're arguing that it's
not really the benefit it was made out to be.
Incorrect. It does not look like that at all... you are merely being a
silly moron. Yep... you are!
What does it look like to you?
Anyone? Not that I know of.
Therefore no one does it?
As a standard practice on OS X... I doubt it!
Who cares if it's standard practive or not?
And why is "standard" relevant.
Because the discussion was about the flaw with a standard setting of
Windows... one that can lead to lost data.
You mean the "flaw" where the OS does what you instructed it to do?
A standard setting which risks user's data. Excuse it all you want, the
fact it is risking user data is not in question.
I don't believe anyone ever said it was.
And, of course, there is no warning... and it is standard, not some command line instruction the
average user would *never* give a hoot about!
Why do people need a warning about this?
According to you OS X gives you a warning to save unsaved data. Clearly
that
is not the case.
Sigh: yes, you can use the command line to lose data.
Therefore your earlier statement is inaccurate. Nice to see you finally
admit as much.
Incorrect... but you can lie about that if you want!
In the end, of course, the facts stay the same: Windows has a standard
setting which risks user's data... and that is a weakness you wish OS X
shared!
Apparently so does OS X when one issues the reboot command from a terminal window. I guess OS X is no better than Windows despite the claims to the contrary.
