Loopy Swede, here's some reviews of my particular model.720p is almost indistinguishable from 1080p, from a few feet away from the screen, no matter how you try to convince yourself otherwise.And the funny part is that you actually think these sort of things are true. I'm always amazed by your ignorance, Nashton.
Get yourself a good 1080p TV, and throw that plasma junk you have out in the garden and let the neighbourhood kids play with it. You'll thank me later when you see the difference.

And I quote:
" Wow, once the picture was calibrated the TH-50PX60U had undoubtedly the truest picture of any television that we have tested to date. Using the Toshiba HD-XA1 HD-DVD player, we watched the Cinderella Man HD-DVD. With the heightened emotion of the final round of the championship fight between James J. Braddock (Russell Crowe) and Max Baer (Craig Bierko), the TH-50PX60U gave us the impression of being in the front row. After Braddock gives Baer a series of quick jabs, the sweat droplets fly off of Baer's face in crystal-clear High-Definition detail. The flesh tones of the boxers are reproduced perfectly, and one can spot dark details within the crowd at the boxing match because of the accurate ISF calibration."
Mine is the TH-50PX600U, which sports even more bells and whistles.
But it does not show 1080p. How many times do I have to tell you this? Your TV has a resolution of 1366x768. It is impossible to show 1080p with that resolution. Do you get it yet? It could support 1080p *in* (which it doesn't, by the way) and *downscale* it to the resolution of your TV. Your resolution is *too low* for 1080p. I don't know in how many different ways I can tell you this.
Just look at the tech specs of your low-end TV on panasonics site:
<http://www2.panasonic.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/vModelDetail?surfM
odel=TH-50PX600U&catalogId=13401&cachePartner=7000000000000005702&model
No=TH-50PX600U&itemId=97563&catGroupId=24973&surfCategory=Plasma+TVs&ca
cheProgram=11002&storeId=15001&displayTab=S>
Native Resolution (Number of Pixels) : 1366 x 768
Now compare that to the native resolution of my TV:

=odw_en_GB&pageType=TechnicalSpecs&category=TVP+LCD+TV>
Notice anything different?
Display Resolution (Pixels) : 1920 x 1080
You see, you need to have 1080 vertical pixels in order to display 1080p. You have shown beyond any doubt that you haven't got the slightest idea about TV's, and particularly not about HD support in them.
Moreover, I have seen 1080p, in particular the big Panny TH-65PX600U, which doesn't even accept 1080p via HDMI and I can assure you, there was very little difference between my TH -50PX600 and this model, except for the size. I've also seen the Pioneers side by side with mine and they don't hold a candle to Pannys;)
You have already established that you can't tell the difference between 720p and 1080p (where 1080p is over *TWICE* - more than one million pixels more! - the quality of 720p). You're in no position to pass judgement om perceived quality on any brands.
How do expect anyone to take you seriously when you display this degree of ignorance?
Look up the difference between temporal and positional resolution and go back to making cute web-pages. Your knowledge of physics is for the dogs and throwing in numbers whose physical and perceptual context completely eludes you, doesn't make you look any more intelligent.
I provided links proving every single one of my points, from various sources explaining input, physical properties of signals and the differences in perception between 720p/1080p, differences between DLP and flat panels, discrepancies between 1080p/60 and 24 and the list goes on.
All you had to say was (and I quote):
"Get yourself a good 1080p TV, and throw that plasma junk you have out
in the garden and let the neighborhood kids play with it. You'll
thank me later when you see the difference."
Then I proceeded with an in depth review of the TV I own, which completely demolished your feeble, me-too arguments but I doubt anyone was surprised.
You may be making oodles of money but you certainly aren't very intelligent;)

Bottom Line: I have a Panasonic Plasma(50PX500) and a Sony XBR3 LCD. The difference between 1080i on the Panny and 1080P on the Sony LCD are MINISCULE. And the Sony LCD is ther best LCD out there. Any other LCD brand has all the horrible characteristics of the classic LCD display like smearing, poor color fidelity etc. So if you don't have a Sony XBR then LCD WILL be worse looking than plasma irregardless of resolution
