That's $665 of the Apple Tax since 2001

Perhaps you have forgotten the simple math I did for you in February,
in
"Seems like Mac users pay a little less":

Wintrolls belabor the point that Mac users who have chosen to upgrade
through all versions have paid more than Windows users. Never mind that
fact that Mac OS has seen features go up -- features Windows doesn't
even
have -- and speed increases as well.

I whipped up a little comparison of plain retail prices. I picked Vista
Ultimate because it was the version that has Flip 3D, backup, photo,
DVD,
movie, and other features that you get with Tiger + iLife. (see
http://tinyurl.com/j7vu4)
1) What is wrong with the Backup in Vista Home Premium? Is Ultimate
really a requirement? With OS X I had to buy two additional programs
(Dot
Mac and SuperDuper) to get decent backup capabilities.
To get each feature in Windows that's offered by OS X, you have to get
Ultimate.
What features are those (that are not in Home
Premium)? I think that is the fairer comparison,
as the Tablet and Media Center features in
Ultimate are not in OS X.

Why additional expense? I use Apple Backup and an external drive.
I got Apple Backup when I joined .Mac. Does it
come with OS X now?

http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/backup311.html

The download link takes you to .Mac. Again, as I
said, my assumption is this is available only to
.Mac members. Am I wrong?

Sorry, I saw the file size on the right and didn't follow the link.

You also failed to list what features there are in
Ultimate (and not in Home Premium) that required
you to pick that version for your comparison.

You'll have to ask the other Tim for that answer.
