Wasn't my impression from the same interview, but I'll await your
comment on Balmer's Zune claims.
Oh, there's no doubt that he is overly optimistic on the Zune. And I haven't seen Bill say much about the Zune, inside I suspect he feels its a piece of crap.
Frankly, I don't make my business decisions on
such trivial points.
If it were merely rare and occasional, then I would agree that they
would be trivial. However, since they aren't a rare, occasional event
but rather form a consistent pattern of purposeful duplicity, this is
hardly something that can then still be claimed to be accidental and
thus, trivial in nature.
From things I read about Steve Jobs, including a couple of the unauthorized bios I have read, he doesn't sound like a very nice person at all, and I hate the secrecy at Apple and not knowing any of their plans, which makes planning to buy products difficult, but I still buy them.
YMMV on how much of your business you want to give to what you
personally consider to be an unthical company.
The Mac product is a niche item. And you can get Office on the cheap on line.I'd like to pick up a copy of the latest Mac version ... how about
providing a couple of URL examples of online sources which you
consider to be "cheap", please? BTW, edu discounts don't cut it
anymore.
Which, oddly enough, is responsible for a profit margin for MS that is
disproportionate to its alledged 'niche' market share status.
I believe the OP
was referring to the Windows version when he
talked about "Office".
Possible, but I'd prefer to let him answer for himself. In any
event, I've not really noticed huge price desparities in MS-Office for
the different OS flavors - - and anyway, I'd still be interested in
seeing what he considers to be "cheap" even for the Windows version.
So either way, its a PU/SU.

How about Microsoft Office 2007 Home and Student for $127.99. This is not an upgrade or OEM version and does not require you to prove that you are a student or have a home. <grin>
