"When I write a column, I almost never feel I have had enough time using
the product under review. Even in the rare instance in which deadlines
aren't bearing down, I often realize later on that I've missed a fair
amount. In the case of Microsoft's Windows Vista, flaws that I thought
would grow less annoying with extended use have actually become more
troublesome."
go clik, it's short and sorta mirrors the TV spot.
Well, if you add the same amount of RAM that most macs have - it will blow away any mac/OSX combination.
Nope. I ran Vista on my Dell E1705 Core Duo 2GHZ, 1 gig of ram, 80 gig 7200 RPM HD GeForce GO 7900GS
It was MOLASSES slow compared to my iMac 1.83GHZ/1 gig of ram/160gig 7200 RPM HD ATI X1600.
The E1705 has the edge where it comes to hardware, and it still was agonizing. I dumped it. Back to Ubuntu and XP.
I will admit, the iMac felt slow when it came with 512 meg. But $69 later, it was flying!
1 Gig of RAM is INSUFFICIENT for Vista Steve. 2 Gig is the recommended configuration. Vista takes over 700 Meg of RAM just to load.
