It is great to see colleges, like Grove City, embracing the Tablet PC.

It's too bad that the tablet PC never took off. I worked with Microsoft on the prototype tablet, and with Compaq on the first production tablet, the TC1000. The handwriting recognition is very good, they are great machines for traveling (especially in coach!), and they have all the capability of a notebook when you need it, though the optical drives are usually external to reduce weight. They are especially suitable for note taking in meetings and classes where it would be unacceptable to be typing on a keyboard.

The TC4x00 line actually has a disadvantage over the original TC1x00 version, which had a detachable keyboard; all the hardware was in one piece.

I hope that Apple comes out with a Tablet version of their OS, and some hardware. They could do a better job of marketing such a device than Microsoft did.
