what i need (there are two firmware updates, the "plain" one and
the SMC update. NONE of them will install on the computer (iMac
core duo Intel). According to the pop-up, my computer is "up to
date." What a fscking joke. Plus, trying to find anything on
Apple's text-heavy sorry excuse for a site, from the firmware
updates to the latest Boot Camp software is a freaking joke.

When I try to run Boot Camp assistant, it tells me that my
firmware isn't up to date. Went on all kinds of forums and no
solution to my (and apparently many others') problem.

Freak show. What is really ironic are the jabs Apple takes at XP
on its boot Camp download site when at the same time their
retarded alpha stage software can't even install on their boxes.

Simply priceless.

And yes, I reset the PRAM and NVRAM. And yes, I ran fsck- f in
single user mode and yes, I even tried the firmware restoration
software to no avail.

Well folks, this is nothing more than nasty, the Mac MalContent at
his best. Getting things wrong and then bitching that it's Apple,
when it's nasty.

Just like the Peter and his moms PC.

Josh

It wasn't a hardware problem. It was a software problem.

Specifically what was the problem?

Josh

Seems it was OS software. It was solved by a complete reinstall of
Windows.
