3) No support for Apple modem from Windows XP.So, use an external Wintel modem..
Let me put it this way. Some Windows geeks claim they can get OS X toSorry, Mark, but running a pirated OS X on a Wintel is exactly like
run on PC hardware (illegally of course) - - - but OS X running that
way is inferior to running OS X on real Mac hardware.
running a "real" OS X on an Apple PC.
Turn that logic around and it applies to running Windows XP on MacWhat I said above goes double for XP on an Intel Mac. In fact,
hardware.
running XP on in Intel Mac is exactly like running it on a Wintel PC,
only FASTER.
Considering that I only have MY experience on which to form MY
opinions, I see nothing wrong with my statement, Steve.
And nowhere in the above statement does it say *ANYTHING* about it being based upon you experience.
Now, I will state it so even YOU can understand it, OK?
I understood it quite well. You were trying to pass of your limited experiences as facts.
You DO understand the difference between facts and opinions, don't you?
"IN my EXPERIENCE, running XP on MY Intel iMac is EXACTLY like running
in on ANY Wintel PC I've owned up till now (and my last one was a
scorcher, not some cheepie P4 entry-level), only FASTER.
See now, if that's what you *REALLY* meant, that's what should have written.
I don't give
a crap WHAT your "facts" are.
That's quite obvious.
You could show me all the "facts" you
WANTED to show me.
I don't have any desire to show you the facts.
But I would STILL reject them. Do you know why?
Because I have EXPERIENCE on which I form my "opinions".
Why should I care about your limited experiences? Just don't try to pass 'em off as facts in here, and you wont get called on 'em.
It's NOT possible to move a man with "experience" by "facts", Steve.
You just waste your time trying.
More like don't try to move a bitter old man with a chip on his shoulder, that doesn't care about facts.
Faster? WTF are you smoking?
My Dell E1705 has identical hardware as the Macbook PRO. Save for the
Dell having a better video card. An Nvidia 7900 with 256 meg of ram.
Otherwise the chipsets, CPU, and memory are identical.
So please, enlighten us as to how the Apple hardware, while identical to
other PC vendors, is faster running XP?
You got me, Steve. All I can give is my own experience. This
experience is HIGHLY subjective, I realize. But I don't really give a
damn. You might have a DIFFERENT experience. What is that to ME?
Nothing.
I am not saying I necessarily believe the Apple computers are faster than
similarly equipped non-Apple PCs, but I have heard from others that they are
faster, sometimes significantly. I do not know why they would be and would
like more evidence myself.
Since I'm not a lawyer, and I'm not here to present "evidence" to a
court of Law, I will CONTINUE to give my SUBJECTIVE experience. Take
it or leave it. I don't care, bud. What YOU do is YOUR business.
What I do is MINE.
Ummm, for one thing, you're obviously new to this usenet thing. I did not write the above statements you are replying to. Snit did.
It's easy to get evidence. I'll be getting my Intel iMac on Wednesday. An extra 512 meg of ram(to make it 1 gig, just like the Dell), and a copy of Windows XP Home should also arrive this week.
Yes, the iMac SHOULD be slower than my Dell. Considering it has a 1.83GHZ Dual core, VS my Dell's 2.0GHZ.
But, if the Apple hardware is 'significantly' faster, than it should beat the Dell laptop hands down. Hard drive based tests, will certainly be faster on the iMac, since the Dell only has a 5400RPM drive.
I'm quite certain that the Dell will beat the iMac, hands down in graphics tests, Seeing as it has a higher end Nvidia chip(GeForce Go7900GS), VS the iMac's mid range ATI chip.
So you guys name the benchmarks, I'll post results, screenshots, or anything else you'd like as proof.
I personally don't give damn what your "proof" is. If it works for
YOU, then more power to ya.
Which is still not true. No matter how many times you say it. It may be faster than any machine YOU have owned.I'm thinking of these two benchmarks apps, since they are both freeware. In addition, Mr. MacKay, I said "XP runs faster on my Intel iMac than

it ever did on a Wintel PC.
I did NOT say "my Intel iMac runs fasterAgain I have to ask, what are you smoking?
than any other PC I've used."
That is *NOT* what you said in the post I replied to. You amended it, stating it's based on your personal, limited experience.
For a simple reason, bud: Because YOU apparently can't tell an
OPINION from a FACT.
I have no problem telling the difference between facts and opinions. You said that the Mac can run Windows FASTER. Never did you state it was your opinion, never did you state in comparison to, etc... Get it?
Sure, that's fine.
You stated, EXACTLY this:
--------------------------------------------------------------------
"In fact, running XP on in Intel Mac is exactly like running it on a intel PC, only FASTER. "
--------------------------------------------------------------------
So PLEASE don't misquote or misunderstand me, ok?I didn't interpret anything. Nor did I misquote you. I replied to exactly what you posted. It was false. I corrected you on it. Don't like it? Don't post your limited personal experiences as absolute facts.
I usually mean EXACTLY what I say. There is no need to try to
INTERPRET my words.
It is YOUR opinion that MY opinion is FALSE?
No. But your statement was flawed.
Who are YOU to judge MY
opinions?
I never did judge your opinions. I judged your statement, that you were trying to pass off as facts.
Just another MacIdiot? or Just another Windroid?
Neither. I've got boxes running Windows, three Macs, an SGI Indy, A Sun Ultra5, And a laptop that dual boots Ubuntu Linux and XP. I'm an enthusiast, that's been doing this for close to 30 years.
I don't
care what your OPINIONS of MY opinions are. I will decide whether MY
opinions are "false" or not.
ROFLMAO. You really have a problem admitting when you're wrong :)
You DID "interpret" what I wrote, CONTRARY to your claim.
Nope.
Most people
with half a brain would have been able to tell that I was CLEARLY
giving my OPINION,
Since I have a whole brain, and can't read your mind, nor would I want to. I didn't need to interpret anything. I just read your statement as fact. EXACTLY as you had written it.
as I do in ALL my posts. If I want to state
empirical "facts", I will quote them, not give my "opinions".
Good for you.
Now, it is NOT possible to PROVE that someone's "OPINION" is either
true OR false, since an OPINION is NOT "empirical fact", it is
SUBJECTIVE.
Next time don't pass your "opinions" off as facts. Plain and simple. Try and write what you actually mean next time.
So screw you, bud.
However, unlike YOUR opinions, MY opinions were formed by DOING what I
give my opinion about, not by taking a few debate classes in school.
ROFLMAO, Uh huh.
Ask anyone who posts here. They will tell you I almost ALWAYS sayGood for you. Next time proof read what you write. No need to get your undies in a bunch.
what I mean, and mean what I say (whether they may or may not agree
with me is irrelevant).
And no need to be such an idiot, bud.
If I want to get my "undies" in a bunch, I will get my "undies" in a
bunch. By the way, I don't wear "undies", as you apparently do (what
do you wear, black silk "undies"? And are they YOURS or your
sisters?). I wear "tidy-whiteys".
See, this is where I can tell you are completely full of ***. You lost the debate when you have to resort to insults. So good luck with that pops...
