Not that there is anything wrong with my Mac, I am just thinking about
the future. I bought a 20" iMac Core Duo. cost me around 2G with all
the trimmings. I play a lot of video games on it. Mostly World of
Warcraft.
I was playing WoW on OSX, however I could never get Ventrilio working
correctly for Raid voice communications. So I loaded bootcamp and
Windows XP, I started playing Wow over there full time, because it just
looked nicer. I think this is openGL vs Directx.
I figured that since I had a Windows side, I might as well put some
other games on it, so I put Half Life 2, and Doom3, they play OK. and
by OK I mean so-so.
But what I have found was that most of my time was spent in Windows, so
I set up my email account on the Windows side as well, to keep me from
having to re-boot to check my email. Now I want to get Battlefield 2,
but I am worried about the performance with the X1600 Radeon, since HL2
and D3 are both marginal.
So I decided to sell the iMac while it still had considerable value,
and go back to a Windows Machine, I bought a Dell XPS 400 with a
Pentium D processor, 250GB hard disk, and added a Geforce 7900GTX to
the mix.
Not that I didn't like the Mac, I just knew I would never be able to
upgrade the video card, and as a gamer, it was already a pretty
marginal performer.
I have put the iMac on ebay, with a $1650 Buy it now and free shipping.
It is absolutely perfect, no scratches, has a activated and legal copy
of XP Pro on it, 2GB Ram and a 40GB external USB drive.
The item number is 230021117250 if anybody is looking for a like new
Mac, still under Warranty with some xtras fairly cheap.
