The equivilent to OS X would be GNU/Linux, not Windows XP Pro.
You can keep telling yourself that. Hey, which distro were you thinking?
SuSE of some variant or another. Either fork over the money for SLED or
use OpenSuSE.
And in what way do you think that is an equal to OS X?
SLED provides equivalent or better functionality?

What powerful arguments you make! LOL! Oh, you did not make one at all.
Will you? Please?

About what? SLED vs. Windows XP? That would qualify as it's very own thread, and such has been made many times in the past.

I could beat Apple's price using NewEgg's components. Barely, but I could
do
it. Give it 3 months and I can beat them easily.
So you can *build* a cheaper PC that
* does not have near the testing behind it
And this impacts... what? I know you Mac users have a problem with
standards, but the rest of us don't see them as a bad thing.
I note how testing is something unimportant to you. OK. It is important to
me. I like knowing incompatibilities will be essentially non-existent. You
will claim testing is not needed for this. You will be wrong. Next.
It won't be a huge issue, if you're careful about picking parts.

Or just get a Mac.

Face it - you have no idea if some exact set of parts works correctly with
some other exact set... not unless you make a kazillion and four.

Or until you get knowledgeable user reviews of other people using that same hardware configuration.

Apple
does. You don't.

That's a bit silly. Apple's quality control is worse than mine, and I only deal in custom machines. Their 'kazillion and four' machines have a lot more problem than my run of one does. If for no other reason than because I will replace the part with a supported one, out of pocket, if it turns out there is a major incompatibility.

If Apple does make a "bad" choice they will update the
driver. You won't.

You're right--I'll do one better. I'll pay for the part that would work. No need to worry about what new bugs the updated driver introduces.

You lose.
* one where when something goes wrong you get the run around
from 20 different venders
It's better than getting 90 days of support, then nothing.
Apple supports machines much longer than that. If you want "free" support
you can even pay for it and gamble that you will save money.

* One that does not run pro programs as MS Office, Photoshop,
Dreamweaver, etc.
Strangely enough, every application you mentioned would run just fine.
Wine is a hack that sometimes works.
Crossover Office has all three of those as targeted applications--they
make sure they work.

As "targeted" applications. LOL!

What's so funny about that? The three proprietary apps you want to run all run on GNU/Linux with Crossover Office. For $40, you get the ability to run all of them. Which is a drop in the bucket compared to what you paid for the licenses to all three. Less than the cost difference for buying a Mac, in fact.

And it would take you *three months* to do.
Actually, I could do it today. The *price* will have dropped $200-300
within 3 months, allowing it to beat the Mac handily.
But for now even you admit Apple is beating the hobby machine market. That
is amazing.
No, I specifically said that I could match what Apple is offering. I
only save ~$20, but I can still do it. In three months, the hobby
machine will be ~$200 less.

And offer much, much less - as covered elsewhere.

No, it has yet to be covered. Most of what people attribute to the Macs in question are vague advantages, at best. I know I can exceed Apple's build quality by a mile, and probably get better performance. There go the two main selling points.

Nothing against your
hobby, but not my cup of tea.

LOL! You are funny, did you know that?
How have reading comprehension problems, did you know that?
Poor TLK... he feels the need to spew insults to make him feel better about
himself. Oh well.
When you insult me, I'll insult you back.

Yeah, that is why you spew so many insults. Sure. LOL! Go sell your BS to
someone who might believe you.

Good luck getting someone to listen--everyone but me apparently had the good sense to killfile you a long while back. I know keep you off for the entertainment.
