To attract current iPod users Microsoft is going to let you download
for free any songs you've already bought from the iTunes Music Store.
They'll scan iTunes for purchased tracks and then automatically add
those to your account. Microsoft will still have to pay the
rights-holders for the songs, but they believe it'll be worth it to
converts.

ZOWEEEEE!!
The article has other details on Microsoft's player, which supposedly
will be available this November.
Here comes the cliché, if I had a nickel for every iPod killer ....
One thing seems to elude the other manufactures trying to knock iPod's
market share down is they forget the simple axiom that it is the
interface that gives the iPod the edge. Along with the easy interface
to the iTunes Music Store. Until those manufactures can think up a
better mouse trap or sue Apple into the ground it will take a miracle
to unseat Apple. Unless Apple hangs themselves.
I don't know about that.
I have a 20GB iPod, but for a flash-based player that I use for
jogging, I got a SanDisk 4GB Sansa e260, which I greatly prefer to
Apple's nano offerings.
Of course you do. Face it, you'd buy just about anything as long as it
didn't have the name "Apple" on it. I bet you even avoid apple pie. I
have never seen you say one thing good about any Apple technology or
product on this NG. Anybody could have guessed that you would have some
other brand of player.
