I have yet to see a videocorder or a hard drive that had more than 1 USB
prot (to allow daisy chaining to other devices).

Every FireWire unit I've ever come across, besides the iSIght cam, has
had more than one FireWire port, either FW400 or FW800 (newer LaCie hard
drives).

Video cameras with FireWire (more often iLink equivalent) tend to be set
up a the terminal node in a FireWire chain.
