Is this how Apple plans to attract new customers?

Your link is not working right now, but I have to admit, I was so
enamored with my 20" iMac that I was seriously considering selling my
Dell 9300 laptop to buy a Macbook. But the various reports of problems
with heat, noise, and discoloration convinced me to wait for Apple's
second wave of laptops before going all Mac. Disappointed that Apple
has done little to address these issues.
I don't disagree with that. I'm in no hurry to buy an Intel-based
machine. My PPC Macs suit me just fine for the here and now, thank you.
I don't want to be Apple's beta testers on my dime.
Same here. I'm interested in the new laptops but all the big kinks
aren't worked out yet. I generally shy away from buying the first
version of any product for the reason you mentioned.

Yeah, especially with laptops. Apple is not the first to have heat
problems with Intel laptops by ANY means. I had a Toshiba laptop that
was just as notorious for heat issues. Fan noise is not a common
complaint for PC users since they are so use to hearing the thing blow
all the time.

No, it's not a common complaint because it's not a common occurrence.

I was obviously exagerrating when I said they blow "all the time".
There is not much noise when the computer is idling, but anything that
uses the processors with any kind of intensity is going to kick off the
fans. In most cases the fan kicks on and off repeatedly. Of course,
this is also the case with Macbooks. But don't tell me that fan noise
is "not a common occurence" in most laptops. That is total BS.
