Microsoft has often had this problem -- they are thinking about the IT

Well, since a large share of its software sales are to corporations, I
totally understand why it would be released to developers and IT
managers first.
Why not at the same time? Why shold someone come first?

However, since at least the first release of XP's
beta program, Microsoft has ALLWAYS made a release to the GENERAL
PUBLIC, which may either be downloaded
What do betas or previews have to do with this thread about the
installation methods?

This ordering site, by the way is open to the GENERAL PUBLIC. All
that one must do is use his existing Passport account or create one,
and sign in to the website. Sorry, you MUST use a Passport-accessible
email address.
Sorry, but that's just making excuses for generating Passport accounts.
This means it isn't free -- and considering Microsoft's attitude about
partners and customer information as a product, I think this is a
considerable potential risk.

"Uninformed" consumers are only "uninformed" because they refuse to
take the time to research the OS
Right -- but that's an unavoidable fact of the industry. People cannot
be fully informed -- the designs, and methods, and distribution, and
styles of products have to make up for this problem. Products need to
be more clear and obvious, instructions need to be plain and correct,
troubleshooting needs to be comprehensive.

Microsoft can't come to each private home and hold them by the hand
while they learn about the product, so they publish all the
information needed for them to educate themselves on their site. I
see absolutely nothing wrong with this. If you do, then I certainly
fell sorry for you.
No, you're missing several alternatives -- the products don't have to
be so complex. Certainly not today, when they can do so many steps for
us, use plain language descriptions, and be almost totally fault-free.
Computers should be made simpler to use by uninformed people, that's
all there is to it. You should not have to go to a couple books and
research a Web site. the OS should be bridging the gap, not creating a
larger one!

You know, "Prissy", if you actually meant that because you were truly
an advocate for the General Public, I could agree with you. But you
aren't. You are a hypocritical, critical, and hateful advocate for OS
X and Macs. Pure and simple.

Mac users have grown so far from the General Public in your Mac
complancy, that you are not even able to understand the educational
level of the General Public.

Millions of Windows users have had absolutely NO PROBLEMS making the
changes from one Microsoft OS to another since DOS Days. I doubt
seriously that another level of "complexity" in Vista will be any
different, or harder to master within a few sessions, while changing
from OS 9 to OS 10 for Mac users was an EARTHSHAKING experience for
them. They STILL bitch and complain about it in various forums around
the Net. And those types will STILL be complaining about the change
with OS 15 (whatever that is). I am fully convinced that its possible
to spot a Mac fanatic by observing his compulsive/obsessive rants
about how evil Microsoft is, and how those "Arkansas hill-billy"
Microsoft users who are HAPPY with their choices are so "ignernt" and
unaware.

I can't on in this post. Your clearly apparent elitism stinks to
high-heavens. I need to go take a shower after sending this post, and
use a little room deodorant to get rid of your stink.
