else. (Although this seems to be common behavior for Windows where
you're doing something like browsing the web and the OS decides to
download a RAT for you. :-)

One of my major complaints about Windows has always been that it gets
in
the user's way too much. It seems to be always popping up cryptic and
even meaningless dialog boxes while one is trying to work.

Yea "Do you wish to restart your computer now?" and two buttons, one
marked "yes" and one marked "no". That's really cryptic to me, how bout
you?

I'm talking generally, not specific. Windows has too many dialog boxes
that pop-up.

No it doesn't. If my computer has an error, I want the information. I
can see how it may be overwhelming for a person who's used to having been
spoonfed by Apple OSes of the past. To me, error messages are an invaluable
tool to help solve the problem.




This is one
thing that they really should fix. Unfortunately, when you're Microsoft
and have 95%+ of the market, why fix anything? What are people going to
do, install another OS? That's not likely and M$ KNOWS that.


The only "fix" for this is called the RTFM fix. To those Mac users
who
don't understand, RTMF means READ THE FUCKING MANUAL. Now I'm sure that
the
program he bought came with a manual with installation instructions. My
software does. It clearly says that installing may require a restart. Now
I
don't know about his program but maybe VB does say that. I wonder if the
OP
will inlighten us. Does the software he bought come with instructions
that
say it may require a restart?

Not the point. The point is that Windows gets in the users way with this
crap and the Mac does not. End of story (AFAIC).


No that is the point. What is the thread about? He's whining about a
normal function of software installation. He caused the problem. Tell me,
when you install an update for an OS X Mac, do you have to reboot sometimes?
The user installed the software and it worked fine, it asked if he wanted to
reboot now or later and instead of reading, the idiot probably just hit
return and yes was the default. Then he blames Windows? I mean seriously, I
would think even a user as clueless as the OP would bitch about the program
rather than the OS.

Why is it that people tend to blame the OS for their own mistakes?

Just relaying an common observation about Win vs Mac.
