If you're talking about Point and Print, I'm pretty sure that's
available only to some printer server setups, such as Windows NT 4
and 2003 servers.

Okay, I'm game. MS tech notes say you gotta have the servers. I'd
like to know how to get around it.

<shrug> it just works. :D

- i have a xp box at work, and i just type in the name of the printers i
want to connect to, and it autodownloads the drivers i need. don't know how
anything's set up on the backend.
- i have a canon i860 shared from my windows 2000 laptop, and my
girlfriend's xp laptop can just connect to it through my box. automatically
downloaded the printer specific driver so she can see how much ink is left,
etc the first time she connected, and haven't had to do anything else since.
certainly don't have any print servers or anything set up...
