A friend of mine called me from a CompUSA to ask me something about
routers.
I asked him to take a quick look at something.
At the store he was at, there is an entire aisle, about 36 feet long, both
sides (72 feet total) four shelves high plus endcaps, devoted to Windows
products that deal with maintenance in some form: antivirus or other
"protections", registry cleaning, defrag, and other apps devoted solely to
keeping Windows running smoothly.
They have 18 feet/4 shelves of stuff to print business cards and
invitations.
So I guess Josh is correct, Windows trounces Mac in the available apps.
Oh brother. That is so lame. Here we go with this "malware" and
"maintenance" aspect of owning a Windows machine. Well look at it this way.
The machine that gets used the most tends to need more maintenance. A niche
machine that's basically a novelty for the average user doesn't get much use
so therefore there is no need for all sorts of maintenance software. One
silly argument deserves another I guess. ;)
