I was working on it but I can tell you that if she does, I doubt she

viewsonic 17 wide screen. It came in thursday night so it's just a few
days old and like new (at least for the moment as I have not been
frustrated enough yet to throw the little box agaist the wall :) If you
are serious, let me know and I will certainly pass it on.

Again, sorry if you misread my comments as they were not directed at
you. I have been on usenet a long time and still get ticked at these
parasites who never help anyone, just pop in to make annoying comments.

I just wanted to add:

Don't compare Win & Mac. It's fine for a debate...Not if you plan to use a machine. There are too many contrasts and I'm not sure if having Win experience even matters (for the good).

No, "install" is a different enough in each to defy comparison...if you try to compare you'll screw-up.
In Win, you can/must/do setup or configure an app in the process installing it. Ya do make choices & you may not have considered it.

Mac is as simple as all say.
Get the app (or app folder) to APPLICATIONS. (DONE)
Once you execute it the first time you can configure the app...but the 'install' is a 'do-little' but get the app/folder w/app to APPLICATIONS.
What screws up Win users is the app will 'work' even if you put it in the wrong place. But it may not work as well (depending on how far you deviated from THE PLAN.

Suck it up for now. You hit a barrier and your Win experience suggests you "do" something. (Doing is part of making win work!)
From here it's tough to say why it may not have gone per the PLAN? And since it's not your machine you don't have the time to get a feel for it.

Trust me? 20+ years (since DOS?) and only since late 05 with a Mac? I'd like to say I had to learn a lot - - I did some research but I had no manual for weeks. I don't advise that, but at least resolve to abandon control & let the machine have it's way. It doesn't need you!

It's not only easy, it won't "let" you screw up (It says "are you sure?!) and the urge to get 'creative' (from the beginning) is an urge you have to fight.
Win is a life of 'work arounds' and for most people it's tough to accept "the Mac knows".

But the problem you are writing about is baffling becaue 'install' is basic, simple and the options are pretty narrow (for a standard install).

I suggested pulling all traces of the app because I did goof once & by starting nekkid for round 2, it went in Bingo and was fine.

Too bad ya got spanked early. I'm no zealot but I wish I'd made the leap long ago. Maybe you'll have some time with her Mini. If so, plan on switching teams.
