I probably shouldn't be writing this, but I work in the IT deparment for
the Boulder schools and here's the reality: If we replace the current
Macs with new Macs, our department will lose employees.
As much as I hate to say it, Windows machines need much more attention,
allowing us to maintain our current staff (and if you read the plan,
we'll be expanding our staff to maintain the new H-Ps over the next few
years). This is just the way it works. And with more staff, we get more
perks, and our boss gets more money, since he's overseeing a larger
staff.
I know a lot of IT guys who lost their jobs once Macs were put in place
in a school district or company. They just don't need IT people because
they don't have the problems Windows does.
While it may seem like we're just protecting our jobs, I ask each of you
whether you wouldn't do the same if your job was as risk?
Deal with it!
