There do seem to be widespread problems with the PowerBook power bricks.
Mine is fine, but a friend of mine ran into problems. His battery
stopped charging. I.e., he'd plug the PowerBook in, and the charge
light would not come on. The PowerBook ran fine off the power adaptor,
but it just would not charge the battery.
He assumed it was a bad battery, and bought a new one. That also
failed. Then he borrowed my adaptor, and both his batteries would then
charge.
Ah-ha! Bad power adaptor. Then we went to order a new one, and saw all
the reviews, and how widespread this problem is.
