In XP you: Click on the "Send a Fax" icon and follow the simple
directions.

In OS X you:

Open "System Preferences" and type "fax" into the search box ... it
will highlight the "Printers and Fax" control panel. Open that.

Within the Print & Fax control panel window, *AFTER* you've succesfully

set up the Fax, it will appear (typically under the name of "Fax
Print") in the left column with your other printers.

To set it up, look above this dialog box - - you 'll see three buttons:

Printing - Faxing - Sharing

You should be currently on the Printing one.

Click on the Faxing one...fill out the obvious stuff & the options you
want, then close the window.

Next, go to your Address Book (its in the dock) and put down the fax
number on one of your contacts.

Then from within any application, tell it to Print. When the printer
dialog comes up, you need to do two things:

1. change your printer selection in the top dialog - from your default

printer to the Fax.

2. identify your fax destination. This is in the 3rd dialog, that
normally says "Copies & Pages". After you've selected the Fax, one of

these should say "Fax Options" - - within Safari, its 3rd from the
bottom. This is where you select the fax# from your address book, add

cover page text, etc.

FWIW, the only option I've not found is to be able to manually enter a
Fax# for a one-time deal...the interface insists that you to set up an
address book entry.

Another great reason to use the OS that just "gits 'er done"

.
