Was gonna order the SATA to Firewire enclosure for about $80 (thanks Jim), but the almost local dealer said he would get me one for $90 and do the data transfer and take the critical, confidential stuff off my G5 and put it on the mini. No charge for that service, just the cost of the enclosure.

You are proud of that?? When the Dell laptop I bought off eBay went dead 2 weeks later Dell:
1. Transferred the warranty 2. Sent me a prepaid shipping box 3. I sent it to the repair depot the same day 4. It was back at my house, working, 3 days later
A whole week, and you have to carry it in yourself? That's lousy service!
Sure sounds like a lot of Dell laptops fail. .
