Wait, I'm sorry, were you going on about something?
I've seen that number climb well over five hours. Real-world battery
life, with a dimmed screen, but with wireless on, tends to be around 4.5
hours or so.

There are some Wintel notebooks now that can match Apple's battery
performance. This was not true a couple of years ago, but Intel has been
doing some serious work on this. These do not tend to be the budget
notebooks mentioned in CSMA.
It'll be interesting to see how Apple does with power management on x86.
My bet is they'll still beat other vendors most of the time, as a result
of better power management software and possibly some different hardware
choices.
