Why depend on ThinkSecret when the specs are already at apple.com?
"Double-Layer Drive
The 8x SuperDrive built into every 15- and 17-inch PowerBook now
supports writing to double-layer (DVD+R DL) discs. While single-layer
DVD discs hold up to 4.7GB of data, double-layer discs have two layers
almost doubling the storage capacity to 8.5GB."

So the 15" and 17" PBs get double-layer drives, but the 12" only gets a
single layer drive.
