They're talking crap.

We've been installing networked Kyocera FS1010 and 1020 lasers for Macs
(OS9 and OSX) with no problems at all. Great little printers*.

The trick is that when you ask OSX to find the drivers, they are NOT
stored in the same place as the usual 'supported' printers.

Follow this pathway: In the Print dialog scroll down to Add Printer.
Print Setup Utility will boot. It should spot the Kyocera if its IP
number etc have been configured correctly. At the bottom of the
PrintBrowser window select Print Using "Other". The Finder then kicks
in, go to [Your Hard Drive] > Library > Printers > PPDs > Contents >
Resources > en.lproj > Kyocera FS-1010.PPD

The en.lproj is assuming you want the English version.

God only knows why a whole bunch of printer drivers are parked way down
at this level rather than in the Printers folder (above). Bend the ears
of the AppleCare and Kyocera people to see if they have any
explanations.

* I haven't investigated this but apparently you can set them up to
email you when their toner is getting low or they are out of paper. All
sorts of possibilities, because the friggin expensive network card is
the same one that is installed in the big industrial
photocopier/printers.
