That's nice. I wasn't so lucky recently. My wife let one of
the kids use her computer to get on some websites to play kiddy
games. (Disney, or NickJr, perhaps both), and the next thing we
knew (about two hours later), her machine was covered up in
crap. There were a bunch of background download applets
running, sucking stuff off the net onto her hard drive, a bunch
of processes running, and the Run keys in her registry were
stuffed with spyware loads. Virus scan software found hits, but
for download bots, not 'true' viruses, and it took me several
hours and a bunch of reboots to remove them all faster than they
could replicate.

All because they used IE (which was required for the web games)
instead of the Firefox she normally uses instead. What a major
pita. I finally convinced her to switch to Linux, since all she
really uses it for is email and web browsing, moved all of her
mail and contacts, bookmarks, etc. over, and she's perfectly
happy, and now the kids do not have an avenue to even attempt to
use Internet Exploder again, since it isn't running anywhere.
