You might read the last line of said article and realise that books
aren't about to get thrown in the dumpster.  This technology is not
going away and I applaud the initiative displayed in this attempt to
harness it.  Sure it may not be a perfect idea, but by trying it,
refining it, ultimately maybe even rejecting it and then trying another
tack, progress might well be made.  What a concept.  But I'm sure
there's a lot to be said for sticking ones head in the sand.  Ostriches
do it, and they're progressing right?  Oh, wait...



How exactly would you expect an Ostrich to "progress"?

And, FWIW, it's the generation of chalk and slate that made science progress the most, except in the case of evolution where they fsked up.
