Do you really believe that?
There are two kinds of malware hackers;
1) The new breed, who are into it for cash. Your argument is valid
here. There just isn't as much money to be made by making malware for
the mac.
2) The old breed, who are into is for fun and "cred". To them, OS X is
shiny virgin territory. The first malware to hit OS X will receive
immense media attention. Just think of all the crowing we'd be hearing
in here.
Also, there is the fact that the "old" macOS did have malware. Why not
OS X as well?

And yet those vulnerabilities in OS X have never been exploited..
