The behavior ceased all by itself. I still don't know what caused it.
And no, it won't lose time when it's off without the battery or AC. Toshiba laptops have an internal NiMH battery (tiny) to keep the CMOS & RTC running.

I am observing something on a Toshiba 2410 series laptop (it's
essentially the same machine as a 1410/1415) that I can't find the
meaning of.
When the machine is ON, the ON light blinks green. Note this is not
the DC power light, nor is it the battery light, it is the "ON"
light. I can't find the meaning of this in the manuals (not only the
user manual, but even the service manual, which I have). Anyone have
any ideas? The machine seems to be operating normally.
Does it do the same on AC alone? The same with battery alone? It isn't losing time when it is off without the main battery or AC connected?
