Toshiba Satellite A85 Display Issue

Hello All,

Need a little help here. I have a Toshiba A85-S107 laptop. Recently
the display started turning off just after boot up, return from
hibernation, or even just after the lid is reopened.

In all cases, the display is on nice and bright for about 1 or 2
seconds, then goes very dim. This is true after repeated closing and
opening of the lid.

Digging around on the net revealed that in all likelihood, the CCFL
inverter is whacked.

So I bought a new one and put it in - the behavior is exactly the
same.

I wonder if there is a bad switch somewhere that is not working right
- a switch that tells the inverter to shut off when the lid is
closed. There is no sign of such a switch on the outside of the case,
and I didn't see anything obvious when replacing the inverter.

Anyone know how I might be able to fix this?
