There are so many things wrong with your post that I honestly don't think you know what you are talking about.
I've never seen an inverter that had a thyristor on it. Transistors, not Thyristors.
An inverter FAILURE can ONLY make a screen go black. It CAN NOT make a screen go white. The only thing that the inverter does is power the backlight. The only thing an inverter failure can do is make the backlight go out. The actual LCD panel isn't even connected to the inverter, although the backlight CCFL lamp that the inverter powers is inside the LCD assembly.
The fact that your VGA monitor output worked does NOT mean that the video card (video circuitry on the motherboard) is ok, although it's a "good sign" that it isn't completely dead.

I sad i HAD this problem and i fix it.
The problem started with the screen going off every now and then
then off totally.
I opened the screen and find out that the inverter had a thyristor burn
if you know how it works an inverter electronically speaking you know that there are generally 2 thyristors that oscillate the power to bring it wave form, while i was changing the tristore i mistake the model of the thyristor and the screen gone white because a wrong thyristor.
If a wrong thyristor can bring the screen white then it can be as well a burn one.
keep in mind that when i say White i was actually testing plug and unplug the monitor to the computer so i can assure you it was not problem of the graphic card
by the way it was a 15" monitor bought in the early 2000 and after this fix in the 2005 is still working .
I'm here just to give an advice how I did solve the problem
