I managed to install nearly all the drivers for my notebook, except one: HP Quick Launch Buttons. The installation file names "sp38171.exe". During the process displays the window with an "Error 0x80040707" and something about DLL function with explanation: "HPQNT.hpqGetBrandEx". I've already installed .NET Framework 3.5, WinXP SP2.
Ask for help and thanks in advance.

Installing drivers for proprietary drivers like those for the HP Quick Launch Buttons requires validation that the computer is an HP computer of the correct product type. The error is that your HP computer no longer has the source for validating to HP that it is the correct product type. The reason is that you blew away your original installation, did not make the restore CDs/DVDs, and now have not resource to correct this error.
Go to www.hp.com, select your country, go to your computer's product name as shown on the second line of the product tag, and order the HP restore CDs.
