I bought a Lenovo Thinkpad T61 with a 2.4 GHz CPU. The Lenovo sales guy said there was a setting to slow down the CPU, but I sure can't find it.
In the past I've never had a problem controlling the CPU speed on my AMD machines, in the BIOS. No problem.
I'd like the ability to slow it down to reduce power consumption while running on batteries. Maybe this is an obsolete notion with Windows XP's power saving features, but I doubt it.
Does anyone know how I can slow down the CPU to, say, 1.5 GHz?
For what?
It's something complete sensless.
When You do nothing, CPU will reduce speed automatic.
When You need 100% CPU, it needs more Wh with reduced speed.
40 Watt at 1 hour full speed are 40 Wh
38 Watt at 2 hour half speed are 76 Wh
