First make certain that the AC adapter isn't dead. Check the output with a
voltmeter if you have one.

Was using my M2000 last night and the battery was starting to run low, so
I connected up the AC adapter and turned my head. When I turned back the
thing was as dead as could be. Not a light anywhere. Disconnected the
adapter, pulled the battery, let it sit a while. Put the battery back in,
tried turning it on.... dead, dead, dead. Nothing at all. Removed the
battery and connected just the adapter, tried to restart.... still dead,
dead, dead. Tried holding down the on/off key for 15-20 seconds (heard
that was a means of resetting), still nothing at all.
Think it's the motherboard? Any other ideas or suggestions? Thanks.
If it's a goner like I think it is, it doesn't speak highly for Compaqs
since the only use this thing gets (or got) was on vacations for music
library, to store new pictures, GPS, email, and to pay any bills that
come due while on the road.
