Hi VistaFan,
If you made a DVD of the 2nd partition that held the Vista image you would be set. I know it is to late now, but as soon as you get the computer back, make the Vista image so that you can reload whenever you need to.
Note the image also comes in handy if you decide to upgrade to a larger hard disk.
Once you have made the image, you can then kill the partition.
I haven't used an Acer in a while, but my guess is it is like HP, Compaq and Sony and there is a utility under the accessories menu that you run and just feed it disk.
In the case of my machine, it took 1 dual-layer DVD.
